Who we are, what we do

Lead by Strength and Conditioning Coach/Personal Trainer Paul Tighe, Comox Valley Strength and Conditioning provides an evidence based approach to training. Whether you are an elite athlete, a local team, a weekend warrior or just trying to improve your health, we can help.

We pride ourselves as being the best, having worked with Olympians, NFL, Professional Hockey Players, Super League Rugby, RFU and more.

Science is a big part of what we do. All of our Strength & Conditioning/Personal Training programs are scientifically based to ensure you get the most out of each session. We have spent years fine tuning our skills in Strength & Conditioning and rehabilitation. 

We will collect your baseline results and build a program around you. We will continue to monitor your progress throughout your sessions and with the use of the data we collect and the feedback you give, we will continuously modify your sessions, ensuring you get the best results.

PAUL TIGHE

Strength and Conditioning Coach /
Personal Trainer

Paul has a Masters in Sport and Exercise Physiology and a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education.

 

He has years of experience both as an athlete and coach. Formally a National level Irish swimmer and selected as a Triathlete for the Centre for Excellence in the UK, he has competed at the top level. 

Most recently he was a Strength and Conditioning Coach based in Vancouver working for Fortius Sport and Health. Where he was able to design and implement programmes for athletes of all levels and backgrounds.

Prior to this he was the Head of Academy Strength and Conditioning for the London Broncos, a Super League rugby team based in the UK. 

Other note worthy clubs and organisations Paul has worked for full time or as a consultant include: Yorkshire Carnegie Rugby Union Team, The British Surfing Association, British Athletics, Judo BC, The Vancouver Ice Dancing Academy (VIDA), DEVO Cycling Team, The BC Aquasonics High Performance Synchronised Swim Team, The Burnaby Winter Club Hockey Academy, The North East Chiefs Hockey Team, The Burnaby Fire Fighters Department and England Touch Rugby.

ABBIE THOMAS

Osteopathic Practitioner

Abbie attained a Distinction in her Masters of Osteopathy at Leeds Beckett University, UK. On graduation from her 5 years of full-time study, she was also awarded the Dean’s Prize for Academic Achievement in Osteopathy. Additionally, she was awarded a commendation for her results by the Osteopathic external examining board. Abbie's Master's research project and thesis was on the subject of treating tension-type and cervicogenic headaches.

 

She has several years of experience working both in the NHS (UK) and in private multidisciplinary clinics. Her specialist areas of interest include treating: headaches, sports injuries, the elderly and children.

 

She enjoys spending time in nature and loves all animals. In her spare time she keeps active outdoors; hiking with her dog, running, cycling and skiing. 

Abbie is a member of Osteopathy BC.

We work closely with Comox Valley Osteopathy and several other local practitioners, combing our expertise with theirs to ensure you have a full and safe recovery.

Each stage of your rehab is monitored by a professional and through a multidisciplinary approach we will guide you through a customised program of manual therapy and strength training to get you back to your best.
